Breakfast at O.Malley’s B&B. Tasty cooked mushrooms and tomatoes.  Around Kilkenny we walk. Medieval and modern. The ornate castle in one family’s hands for 600 years.

The narrow roads out and lousy radio grow wearying. Elvis Costello on the USB insert does the trick. Pleasant walk in Cahir. 40-shades-of-Green, squirrels, ducks, the whole bit. Including the damn rain.

Killarney. Dinner is fish instead of Kilkenny Indian. Courtney’s has the alcoholic selection, but Sheehan’s pub at the Killarney Grand Hotel had the night’s music and Tom Fennessy, farmer of Ballymae, Kilmalock. Father of 5 and grandfather of 13 (all living in Ireland). A cow farmer who arises at 6; a lapsed Catholic non-Irish speaking resident of his family’s house built in 1721 and sporting a thatched roof.
